Privacy
This notice explains what personal information this website (iken.bczikn.com) collects, why, and what you can do about it. It’s written to be read, not skimmed past.
Who we are
This site belongs to IkeN, an independent artist, released under BCZIKN. For anything to do with your information, email wearebczikn@gmail.com.
The short version
- Google Analytics only if you say yes on the cookie banner. No advertising, and we never sell your information.
- One other cookie, only if you unlock the archive. The site also remembers, on your device only, your cookie choice and whether you’ve closed the mailing-list pop-up.
- If you email us or join the mailing list, we use your email address for that and nothing else.
What we collect, and why
When you visit. The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare’s servers briefly process technical details such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver the pages and protect the site from abuse. We don’t use this to identify you. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests (keeping the site working and secure).
If you accept analytics cookies. We use Google Analytics, run by Google, to understand how people find and use the site: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are (country or city), what kind of device and browser they use, and which site or app sent them here. Google Analytics doesn’t tell us who you are. It’s only switched on if you press “Accept” on the cookie banner; until then, Google’s code isn’t loaded at all. It never runs on the archive. You can change your mind at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page, and if you say no later, its cookies are deleted. Lawful basis: your consent.
When you email us. If you write to us (for bookings, collaborations, press or anything else), we receive your email address, name and whatever you choose to send. We use it to reply, and keep it only as long as the conversation needs. Lawful basis: legitimate interests (responding to you), or taking steps towards an agreement if it’s a booking.
When you join the mailing list. The email address you enter is sent to our email provider, Kit (kit.com, based in the United States), so we can send you the newsletter and album letters. Kit first emails you to confirm it’s really you; you’re only added once you do. Kit also records basic details about the sign-up, such as when it happened. Lawful basis: your consent. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can leave at any time.
When you unlock the archive. The password you type is checked and then forgotten. It isn’t stored. See “Cookies” below.
Cookies
| Name | What it does | How long | Set when |
|---|---|---|---|
archive_pass |
Remembers that you’ve unlocked the archive, so you don’t need to type the password each time | 30 days, or until you choose “Lock the archive on this device” | You enter the archive password |
_ga, _ga_970D3ET4NK |
Google Analytics: tells apart visitors and visits, so the statistics make sense | Up to 2 years | Only if you accept analytics cookies |
The archive cookie is strictly necessary for a feature you asked for, so we don’t need to ask before setting it. It contains no personal information and isn’t used for tracking. The Google Analytics cookies are optional and only set with your permission.
The site also keeps a small note in your browser’s storage (not a cookie), called iken-consent, holding your answer on the cookie banner so it doesn’t ask again. It stays on your device and is never sent to us.
The home page also keeps one small note in your browser’s storage (not a cookie), called iken-popup. It holds the date you last saw the mailing-list pop-up, or that you signed up through it, so the pop-up doesn’t keep reappearing. It stays on your device, is never sent to us, and you can clear it by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
There are no other cookies: no advertising or social media cookies, and the fonts are served from this site rather than from Google.
Links to other sites
Links to Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and other services take you to sites with their own privacy policies. We don’t control what they collect once you’re there.
Who else sees your information
Only the services that make the above work: Cloudflare (hosting), Kit (the mailing list) and, if you accept analytics cookies, Google (Google Analytics). Some of them may process data outside the UK. When they do, they use safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK’s adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses. We never sell your information.
How long we keep it
Server data is held by Cloudflare only briefly, for security. Google Analytics statistics are kept for 14 months. Emails are kept as long as the conversation needs. Mailing list addresses are kept until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- show you the information we hold about you
- correct it
- delete it
- stop or limit how we use it
- give you a copy to take elsewhere
You can also withdraw consent (for example, by unsubscribing) at any time. Email wearebczikn@gmail.com and we’ll respond within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, though we’d appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Changes
If anything here changes (for example, if we switch email provider), we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
